SEPTEMBER 2005 - University of London
P.L. Ross is instructed by design build contracter Mansell to act as structural engineer in this project
valued at over £10m which entails the creation of new student accomodation within a land locked site in central London.
JUNE 2005 - Lingfield Park Grandstand - COMPLETE
This conversion totally transforms the original 1920's structure into a high tec grandstand. The entire
project was designed within a short time frame of 3 months. There followed a tight build programme phased
around a busy race meeting calendar culminating in phased handovers for Derby trials in May.
Originally a brand new stand was considered costing about £11m, yet this refurbishment at one quarter the cost provides
similar accommodation. The trackside façade is now a modern glass and steel structure. Likewise, the
public façade is enhanced by a dynamic glass entrance of 400m2. In this way the original outdated building
now looks and feels very contemporary. All this achieved at moderate expense by judicial design.
MAY 2005 - Fellowes Plain, Norwich
P.L. Ross instructed to commence an outline design for 280 units of apartments in a mulit-storey concrete frame
over basement parking. This will be a design build project.
